Here is a list of Frequently Asked Questions:
Are you Studio By The Sea? Actually, no, but Sort Of...ish. I worked with Studio by the Sea as one of the lead artists for multiple years before the owner took time off to focus on her growing family. Since the studio name belongs to her, I continued the painting classes under Art & Soul Studio. If you are a returning vacationer/painter, it is possible that I have taught you in the past.
Do I need to be an artist? Nope! Art & Soul Studio guides you through the painting process to create your personalized version. We paint with you, step-by-step. If you have questions, we are there to help.
Can we paint when it's raining? YES, we can still have paint classes during the rain. While there is rain exposure in the parking lot and stairs to the deck, we are very fortunate to have a covered area at Pompano Joe's. Rainy day painting is actually pretty fun.
Do you hold classes every day or all week? Unfortunately, no. I have a full-time job during the week, so classes are limited and subject to change depending on my work schedule.
How do I register? To register for class, go to the calendar page and select the painting on the date for the class you would like to attend. From there, you choose the number of painters and go through the registration process. You can always email or text me if you are having any issues.
Can I just show up for class that day? Walk-ups are more than welcome for classes with available slots. We do need advance notice to have a seat provided. Your spot will need to be paid before class begins, so please get there a little early to not hold up the other painters. HOWEVER, due to the long commute, classes with no registrants the night before will be made inactive at 10pm CST. If you plan to show up and pay that morning, please contact Art & Soul Studio in advance to verify the artist will be there.
Do you have afternoon classes? Beach classes with Art & Soul Studio are morning time slots only. Our venue, Pompano Joe's Seafood House, allows use of their space for morning classes. Private parties at provided locations can be afternoon or evening times.
Do classes on the calendar ever change? Classes on the calendar are always subject to change, so please check it as often as possible. The artist has to coordinate the paint calendar with her regular job, so classes can be added or removed due to schedule conflicts or changes. Please text or email with any inquiries for a class--one will be added if possible.
How do private parties work? Private parties at the beach have the same guidelines as a regular class, however, it must be a large group (10 or more painters to not be added to the main calendar for the general public to join. The person booking the party will be sent a link for everyone to register. Smaller group classes will be viewable on the calendar for open enrollment registration on the remaining spots. Private parties at a provided location can be in the morning, afternoon, or evening. All supplies are provided—we will need to know in advance if tables and chairs are not available so they can be brought for setup.
Can I bring food or drinks? We ask that food and drinks are not brought to any classes held at Pompano Joe’s. A bottle of water or your morning coffee is fine, but please do not bring coolers of food and drinks. They are generous to allow use of the venue; the restaurant opens at 11:00 and the beach bar opens at noon during season. A full menu (food & drinks) is available for ordering once the restaurant is open.
Do I need to bring anything? All supplies are provided for class. You only need to bring yourself, your friends, and your inner artist. (It’s in there somewhere)
Will the paint stain / Does it wash out? Yes, the paint will stain clothing and typically does not wash out. We use acrylic paint so it doesn’t require thinner or remover like oil paints. It washes off of skin easily with soap and water. You may have to use a loofah in some cases, but it will come off with little effort.
Can I change things in the painting? MOST DEFINITELY!! We simply guide and instruct you through the painting. Everyone is encouraged to tweak the painting to make it their own. Colors can change, images can be added, relocated, or omitted. This is your experience. :)
Do I get to keep the painting? Yes, OF COURSE! Painting at the beach is pretty awesome, but this is your painting to keep. We are flattered that you allow us the opportunity to help create a memory of your time here. And a big thanks to the locals who join in on the fun!
